The Story of our Logo & Our Journey of Enabling Behaviour Change
When we set out to design our logo, we had decided what our core area of work would be – Enabling the Augmentation of an Individual’s Performance. Finally, after multiple permutations, we settled on Individual Performance Augmentation Enablers and IPA Enablers was born as the name we would be known by.
The task of designing our logo fell upon one of our advisors, who is a creative and accomplished designer, who embodied our ethos in the colours – Red, Black, Blue & White.

The colours of our logo are a reflection of our philosophy:
• The Red I – The Individual is driven by passion, which is the driving force of life, Blood Red
• The Black P – Performance is absolute, definitive and objective and there are no two shades, Night Black
• The White A on an expanse of Blue & White – Augmentation is never ending, open and imaginative, Oceans creating Clouds of Opportunity
Our work is in the field of enabling behavioural change in learners and delivering measurable and attributable business outcomes for organisations.
How we form behaviours:
• We display a behaviour only when our limbic brain has certified it as ‘Safe’ behaviour!
• For that to happen, our neocortex has to convince our limbic brain, that the behaviour is ‘Safe’!
• The neocortex happens to be our rational brain, the one that helps differentiate us from other animals, the one that is responsible for making us a higher order animal
Given that we are rational animals why does the neocortex have to convince the limbic brain? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
This is where it gets interesting! While we are supposed to be rational beings any behaviour that we desire to display has to be certified by the limbic brain before we can display it.
The simple reason being that the limbic brain takes responsibility for our survival, so it needs to convince itself, that the proposed behaviour is not going to jeopardise it (by extension, You) – so the need for it to certify it as ‘Safe’. Therefore, the limbic brain has a veto power on the behaviours we display or don’t.
So, what would make it certify a particular behaviour as ‘Safe’ or ‘Not Safe’? How does the Neocortex going about convincing it?
Before we go there, let’s get some clarity on the basics of the limbic brain. It is responsible for our emotions and it is responsible for one of our biggest emotions – Fear! Unless the ‘fear of what would happen’ is managed, it would not allow a behaviour to be displayed. It basically wants to know – ‘what is the guarantee that this behaviour will not cause harm?’
It’s the Neocortex’s job to convince the Limbic brain that a particular behaviour that is intended to be displayed will not cause harm.
So, before any behaviour is displayed by a person, the fear has to be managed. That fear of the Limbic brain can be managed by this largish part of our brain called the Neocortex and this is a never-ending process. For this management to be effective all the time, we have to continuously keep the Neocortex active – the simplest way to keep it active is by Listening & Observing.
Our logo showcases this tension and interplay between limbic & neocortex
• The “P”, showcases a person – the head representing the neocortex enabling the person to move ahead
• The Red “I” showcases fear, always in front of the person, potentially blocking progress
• The “Eye” in the centre with a narrow opening at one end represents the process of gathering of information from the world, through listening & observation, to convince the limbic brain – the “A”lpha, of the change process!
